The Barcelona City Council and BCD organised the second BCN Design Day within the Shanghai World Expo
The roundtable "Barcelona's Urban Model" and the session "Do it in Barcelona. Invest in Barcelona” gathered up to 120 designers, architects, institutions and Chinese entrepreneurs from different sectors, with the objective to promote the brand "Designed in Barcelona", to position the city as international capital of creativity and design and to create business opportunities.

New York held the first BCN Design Day with the participation of 19 companies from Barcelona
BCD and the Barcelona City Council organized in New York the first BCN Design Day with the participation of 19 Catalan companies which were attending the ICFF in the American city. This initiative, part of the BCN Design Export, aimed to create synergies and business opportunities between 19 leading design manufacturing companies based in Barcelona and a selected group of local professionals and businesses.

BCD takes part in the international exhibition Alimentaria 2010
BCD was present at the 2010 edition of Innoval, as part of international exhibition Alimentaria. From 22 to October 26 BCD disseminated those support initiatives addressed to companies that are strategically committed to design, in order to enhance the competitiveness of their products and services as well as to make them aware of the crucial role of design within the innovation process.

The winning project of the 3rd edition of the International Contest Jump the Gap, exhibited at the Roca Barcelona Gallery
The winning project and the ten finalists of the third edition of the International Design Contest Jump the Gap, organized by Roca in collaboration with BCD Barcelona Design Centre will be exposed until late June in Roca Barcelona Gallery.
The concept of the exhibition is created by designer Hector Serrano, is surprising for its originality: the projects are in toilets looking for visitor interaction, thus causing the "experimentation" of each proposal.02/03/2010

96% of Catalan companies and professionals that offer design services are interested in participating in international actions
This is one finding from the report “The Internationalisation of Companies Offering Design Services” which the Design and Enterprise Observatory has conducted in order to get to know the interests and needs of professionals offering design services with regard to internationalisation. It has been able to detect, among other things, to what degree companies are exporting; what their favourite international areas and markets are; what international actions they want to participate in; and what they feel is missing.

The Barcelona Design Innovation Cluster holds its first plenary session
The BDI Cluster took a further step in its consolidation process by holding its first plenary session. Among the 30 associated organisations, institutions and companies attending, there were Alstom Transport, Indo, Denys Von Arend and Cabero; organisations like BAU, IED, the Fundación UPC and ASCAMM Centre Tecnològic. During the session, were outlined the most relevant milestones on the road this initiative has travelled up until the present, and also its vision and calendar for action in 2010.

Design and Enterprise Observatory: 9 out of every 10 companies include design in their business strategy
This is one of the conclusions drawn from the study “The Economic Impact of Design on Companies in Catalonia” recently presented by BCD’s Design and Enterprise Observatory, an analysis of design incorporation carried out on 400 enterprises of diverse sectors, sizes and typologies, offering an analysis of the current state of the Catalan business sphere regarding design.
